Job Overview

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

To support this ambitious goal, we are seeking an Electrical Test Technician to join our Electrical Integration & Test Team in Munich. You will be responsible for the assembly, integration, maintenance, and modification of electrical test systems used throughout the development, verification, and validation of spacecraft subsystems and avionics equipment.

You will play a key role in building and maintaining custom test racks, integrating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-designed hardware, and supporting engineers during test campaigns. Working closely with electrical, avionics, and system engineers, you will help ensure our test infrastructure meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities In your role as Electrical Test Technician, you will:

  • Assemble, wire, and integrate electrical test racks and ground support equipment
  • Perform wiring and interconnections between COTS equipment and custom-designed hardware
  • Manufacture, route, label, and install electrical harnesses and cables according to engineering documentation
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to perform integration and troubleshooting activities
  • Support electrical integration, verification, and test campaigns across multiple projects
  • Perform inspections, modifications, and repairs on electrical assemblies and test equipment
  • Assist in the installation, replacement, and rework of electronic components on PCBs when required
  • Execute continuity, insulation, and basic electrical verification tests on assemblies and harnesses
  • Maintain accurate documentation of wiring modifications, test setups, and configuration changes
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause investigations on electrical and test systems

You and your team will be in charge of: • Building and maintaining reliable electrical test infrastructures for spacecraft development and qualification activities

  • Integrating a wide variety of electrical equipment, including power supplies, measurement devices, automation components, and custom electronics
  • Ensuring all rack assemblies and wiring installations comply with internal standards and safety requirements
  • Supporting engineers during test setup preparation, execution, and troubleshooting activities
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of test equipment, assembly processes, and documentation practices
  • Maintaining high levels of workmanship, quality, and configuration control across all electrical integration activities
  • Ensuring electrical installations are safe, maintainable, and suitable for demanding aerospace test environments

Must-Have Skills and Qualifications • Technical diploma, vocational qualification, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related field

  • Proven hands-on experience in electrical assembly, wiring, and integration activities
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Experience assembling and wiring electrical cabinets, racks, or industrial control systems
  • Knowledge of cable and wire selection principles, including preliminary conductor sizing based on electrical loads and installation constraints
  • Familiarity with common industrial automation components such as relays, contactors, circuit breakers, terminal blocks, sensors, power supplies, and I/O modules
  • Experience using standard electrical test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and continuity testers
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a structured, methodical approach to problem-solving
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-Have Skills • Experience with aerospace, automotive, railway, or other highly regulated industries

  • Experience performing PCB assembly, component replacement, soldering, and electronic rework
  • Familiarity with low-voltage DC power distribution systems
  • Knowledge of cable harness manufacturing and connector assembly standards
  • Experience working with custom-built test equipment and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) environments
  • Ability to design rack front panels and front-end layouts for custom test systems
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for electrical or mechanical design documentation
  • Understanding of configuration management and documentation control processes
