• Location: Espoo, Finland (HQ)
• Department: Product Management
• Reports to: Developer Relations Lead
• Employment type: Full-time
• Workplace model: Hybrid (3 days / week in office)

Why this role matters: As a Founding Staff Developer Advocate, you'll be ICEYE's first dedicated developer-facing hire in a brand-new Developer Relations function, working directly with the DevRel Lead. ICEYE's APIs are foundational to our success across both our Data business, where customers order satellite imagery through our cloud APIs , and our Missions business, where sovereign customers build on our APIs to get the most out of their own constellation. You'll get developers at customer organizations productive fast, through hands-on enablement, great content, and a relentless focus on developer experience, while carrying what you learn back into the product. It's a foundational, high-ownership role: you'll shape how ICEYE does developer enablement from day one, with your work showing up directly in both customer success and our product roadmap.
Who We Are ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.
ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.
ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.
Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
Your day-to-day responsibilities • Run onboarding sessions, technical workshops, live demos, and training with customer integration teams across our Missions and Data accounts, and be the person who unblocks them.
• Be developer zero on our own product: build against our APIs yourself, keep a running friction log, and find the rough edges before customers do.
• Create the content developers actually need: quickstarts, how-to guides, tutorials, runnable reference applications, and sample code that take a developer from first API call to production.
• Present our APIs to customers, walking technical stakeholders through capabilities, integration patterns, and use cases.
• Advocate for developer experience by championing consistent, well-documented, predictable APIs, clear error models, sensible versioning, sandboxes, and SDKs, representing the developer’s point of view in product decisions.
• Turn customer signals into product insight by systematically capturing integration pain points and feature requests and translating them into actionable input for Product and Engineering.
What we’re looking for
Must haves: • Experience in a hands-on, developer-facing technical role, such as Developer Advocate, Developer Relations, or Solutions Engineering.
• A track record of producing technical content that developers actually use, such as docs, tutorials, sample apps, or training material.
• Strong technical foundation with REST APIs and product development or architecture, comfortable building showcase integrations yourself and supporting others doing the same.
• Excellent communicator who can make complex technical concepts clear and convincing, both in writing and live in front of a customer’s engineering team.
• Genuine empathy for developers, and the judgment to balance their needs against the needs of the business.
• Opinionated about developer experience: you know what good looks like and you’re willing to push for it, constructively but persistently, even when it’s the harder path.
Nice to haves: • Experience in a fast-scaling environment where you built things from scratch, took programs from 0 to 1, and adapted quickly to new information.
• Experience working on an API product or for an API-first company.
• Experience working with both commercial and government / defense customers.
