Job Overview

A leading private hospital group in Bristol is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join their Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) ward on a part-time basis. The hospital offers a range of specialist services across 77 beds, including Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Adult PICU, Acquired Brain Injury, Huntington’s, and Dementia. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with complex needs and taking a lead role in their care and recovery. Key Responsibilities • Take clinical responsibility for patients on the Male PICU ward, including leading ward rounds, risk reviews, and care planning. • Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983). • Supervise referrals, admissions, and pre-admission assessments. • Provide psychiatric expertise to the multidisciplinary team in assessment, formulation, and treatment of adults. • Contribute to the development of a therapeutic environment that promotes wellbeing, dignity, and recovery. Requirements • GMC registration and inclusion on the Specialist Register. • Experience in adult psychiatry and PICU settings. • Strong teamwork and leadership skills. • Ability to work in a high-pressure, rewarding environment.
